More About Christmas
The Reason for the Season

This is the crowning blog of “More About Christmas” series.  There is not much more to say that has not already been said.  Jesus is the only reason for the season. Yes, it is a time of joy – “Joy to the world the Lord has come” (Isaac Wyatt) Luke 2: 1-14 “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy…” It is a time of Peace -“Peace on Earth and Good Will to Man” Luke 2:14    “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men” Faith – Ephesians 2:8-9 “for by grace are ye are saved through faith; and not that of yourselves: it is the gift of God…” Hope- Titus 1:2 “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began”   And a time of Love -“For God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son”. The latter of these being the greatest gift known to man Love –“for the greatest of these is love”
1 Corinthians 13:13   “And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity”. 1John 4:7 “Beloved let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God”.  So this Christmas season let us dispense Peace, Joy, and good will toward men. But above all offer up to your family, friends, and even those you may not know, love.  As they say it is more blessed to give than to receive, so open your heart and receive the best gift of all time, Jesus Christ, and have the Merriest Christmas ever.
   Jesus is Better than Santa
Santa lives at the North Pole.
JESUS is everywhere.
Santa rides in a sleigh
JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.
Santa comes but once a year
JESUS is an ever- present help.
Santa fills your stockings with goodies
JESUS supplies all your needs.
Santa comes down your chimney uninvited
JESUS stands at your door and knocks... And then enters your heart.
You have to stand in line to see Santa
JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.
Santa lets you sit on his lap
JESUS lets you rest in His arms.
Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is "Hi little boy or girl, What's your name?"
JESUS knew our name before we did. Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too . He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.

JESUS has a heart full of love.
JESUS offers health, help and hope.
Santa says "You better not cry"
JESUS says "Cast all your cares on me for I care for you.
Santa's little helpers make toys
JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and builds mansions.
Santa may make you chuckle but
JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.
While Santa puts gifts under your tree, JESUS became our gift and died on the tree.
It's obvious there is really no comparison.
We need to remember WHO Christmas is all about.
We need to put Christ back in Christmas.
Jesus is still the reason for the season.
May the Lord Bless and Watch over you and your loved ones this Christmas 2012

MORE ABOUT CHRISTMAS
THE REASON FOR THE SEASON

Well folks  here we are just 8 days from Christmas. So many people are hustling and bustling to get everything done before Christmas is here.  The television is packed with commercials trying to sway you to buy the perfect something for that special someone.  The stores are packed with people trying to find that perfect gift. Christmas songs blasting on the radio, everything from "Silent Night" to "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas".  People writing X-MAS instead of CHRISTMAS on their cards, in stores windows and in the windows of their homes. It is sad to say that Christmas has also become a time in which thieves, crooks and schemers run rampant in our society. As we wonder around this season all willy nilly and haphazardly,  we must not forget the real reason for the season.  Jesus.  Jesus, rock of our salvation. Jesus, as precious as gold. Jesus, the Holy and sinless Son of God. Jesus, our good  shepherd. Jesus, who shed his life's  blood on the cross, and rose again in order for us to have eternal life. We always think of Jesus dying on the cross and rising again on Easter, but let us remember the greatest gift known to mankind even today,  the birth of Jesus. And that should be the only reason we  celebrate Christmas.

MORE ABOUT CHRISTMAS

THE CHRISTMAS TREE

In this week’s blog let’s talk a little about the Christmas tree and its meaning.  I have been studying the different types and meaning of the Christmas tree.

According to several different articles on the web it started in Germany by a man named Martin Luther.  As he was coming home from a late Christmas Eve church service he saw the starlight reflecting off the icicles on an evergreen tree.  He cut the tree down took it home and put candles on it.  He then used the tree to tell the story of the birth of Christ and how He is the light of the world.

Another article wrote about an English monk St Boniface (Apostle of German) cut down a scared oak as to show the people there was not any spiritual power in nature itself and therefore thousands converted.

Others talk about the shape and the decorations we place upon our tree. The triangle shape tree represents the Trinity God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. The evergreen represents the eternal life through Jesus.  The upward growth of the needles is as hand praising God.  We put light on the tree not only to make it glow but as a symbol of Jesus being the light of the world. The gifts we give are of charity and love.  The star reminds us of the 3 wise men that followed it from afar to find a babe in swaddling clothes lying in a manger. The angels help us to remember that they declared his birth to the shepherds in the fields watching their sheep.

I am sure the tree has many more meanings than listed above. Your own Christmas tree also has  personal meanings, such as  special ornaments bought through the year, special lights, or special tree topper,  but this too reminds us of the family we love.  Either way the Christmas tree and the meaning of Christmas points to Love.
God gave us Jesus which is the greatest gift of love ever known to man.  “For God so loved the world he gave his only son “.  So let other people see the light of Jesus shine through you just as the light on your Christmas that others may know him too.

 Luke 2:6-20

And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

Matthew 2
King James Version (KJV)
2 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.
And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,
And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.
12 And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way

The Christmas Season is Upon Us
Well November is gone by the way and we would like to think everyone for their thoughts and prayers for James Hess , his family and all other pancreatic cancer patients and families.  Please continue to keep the prayers going up as this is a constant need.
December is here and everyone knows how hectic and manic it can be.  Shopping for the perfect gift, decorating indoors and out and all the festivities that goes along with the season.  Even though time may be short, patience   run thin and there seems to be no time, We must take this time to remember the ones that don’t have is as well as we.  It is time to remember the homeless, the hungry, and the hurting.  It is up to us to take time out of our busy schedule to help others in need.  It is more blessed to give than to receive.  Just giving a small gesture of a hello, a short phone call, or taking the time to visit a neighbor that is shut in will be well worth your time and not only make them feel better but you as well.
Here at EDC Practice Management we would like to take this time in reminding you Jesus is the reason for the season. God gave us the greatest gift of all.  The very first Christmas gift, Christ his son. EDC Practice Management extends their Christmas Blessings to all.
